Matthew Madsen
Managing Director
Matthew has more than 25 years’ experience in the funds management industry, predominantly in director and management roles.
Matthew holds a Diploma in Financial Services, a Diploma in Financial Markets, is an affiliate member of the Securities Institute of Australia, and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Matthew was appointed to the Board in September 2011 and continues today as Executive Chairman.
David Addis
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer of Garda Property Group, David is a member of the senior leadership team responsible for setting and executing Group strategy. In addition, he has responsibility for the various commercial operations supporting the Group’s activities including risk, finance, governance & compliance, investor relations and marketing & communications.
David has approximately 30 years’ experience in corporate finance, funds management and corporate strategy with eminent investment banks, fund managers and professional services firms.
He holds degrees in Commerce and Law, is a Chartered Accountant and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mark Scammells
Director, Projects and Acquisitions
Mark is responsible for real estate acquisitions and Garda’s “build to own” development pipeline.
Mark has 29 years of experience in the Brisbane industrial real estate market and has been responsible for the initiation, management and delivery of some of the largest industrial developments in South East Queensland, including Brisbane South Industrial Park, Proximity Industrial Estate, Southlink Estate and Metroplex Westgate.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Laws and is a Licensed Real Estate Agent (Principal).
Lachlan Davidson
General Counsel and Company Secretary
Lachlan joined Garda in 2014, and is a member of the senior leadership team. He is responsible for the legal, company secretarial and compliance monitoring activities of the Garda Property Group. He was heavily involved in the ASX IPOs of both GDF and GCM.
Lachlan has over 20 years’ experience in corporate law, fundraising and managed investments. He has worked for Minter Ellison, and both Linklaters and McDermott Will & Emery in London. Lachlan was General Counsel at Golding Contractors, one of Australia’s largest private civil and mining contractors. Before that, he was General Counsel of the largest independent investment bank in the Middle East, and was involved in multi-jurisdiction fundraisings of over $US5 billion across IPOs and managed private equity funds.
Lachlan holds a Law degree, a BSc in Genetics and Biochemistry, and an MBA. He is a JP (Qualified), and a Graduate of the AICD Directors Course.
Paul Brown
Head of Treasury and Investor Relations
Paul has 10 years’ experience working in listed and unlisted property and is a key member of Garda’s funds management team. He has been a part of the GDF and GCM initial public offers and various equity capital raisings, collectively valued at over $100 million.
Paul currently heads Garda’s treasury function where he manages the Group’s syndicated bank facilities and relationships. Key responsibilities include liquidity management, fund forecasting and property valuations.
He is also responsible for developing the Group’s investor relations material and seeks to grow strong relationships with both existing and new equity investors, brokers, institutions and analysts.
Paul has previously worked with global organisations, Allianz and Vodafone, developing strong skills in product and business development.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance and Funds Management), is RG146 qualified and has 8 years equities experience in research, analysis and modelling of resource equity transactions of a private fund.
Paul Lohr
Head of Asset Management
Paul is responsible for the management and performance of Garda’s established investment property portfolio.
Paul has more than 20 years’ experience in the property industry, predominantly in investment management and finance roles. Prior to joining Garda in 2016, he was Head of Investment and Trading at Eris Property Group, a leading South African property development and services company.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting).
Ikram Patel
Head of Accounting
Ikram is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting and financial administration functions of the Garda Property Group. He has been employed with Garda since 2016 and played a key role in GCM’s initial public offering and various capital raisings for Garda Diversified Property Fund.
Ikram is a Chartered Accountant with more than 10 years’ experience. He commenced his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Brisbane and London and, more recently, has been Financial Controller in ASX listed companies. Immediately prior to joining the Garda Property Group, Ikram was the Group Financial Controller for Seymour Whyte Limited, an ASX listed civil construction company.
Ikram holds degrees in Accounting and Economics and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
